You can localize the ad you're creating for multiple countries or regions so that our system will tailor your message for each person, no matter their location.
This article will show you how to personalize an ad with multiple languages using the Feed Ad Builder, Ad Serving, and Google Sheets.
Main benefits
- The ad will be translated into their native language based on the user's location.
- Control over the Copy of the message.
- The Copy of the message is controlled by a CSV file uploaded in the Feed Ad Builder.
- The user's country will be detected by our system based on their IP Address*, showing the correct variation of the creative to the user, with no additional requirement or integration needed from your DSP.
Set up your CSV using Google Sheets
- Create a new spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
- Input your data in the spreadsheet.
- Go to File > Share > Publish to web.
- On the Publish to web window, go to the Link section.
- Select the sheet you want to be published.
- Set the spreadsheet as Comma-separated values (CSV).
- Copy the Link and save it for later.
Link the CSV with the Feed Ad Builder
- Open your Design/Design Set.
- From the Toolbar, click on Feed.
- Click Select Feed.
- Click Create Feed.
- Select Upload from my URL and type in your CSV link.
- Click on the Settings
Dropdown icon and set the sections as follows:
- Sync Feed Data - Every day.
- List separator type - Comma (default).
- Target ID - Country.
- Click Continue.
- Link your parameters accordingly.
- Preview and adjust the design if needed.
Set up & Adjust the Ad Tag code
- Enable Ad Serving and set it up according to your needs.
- Set a default¹ Variable.
- Obtain the Ad Tag code of your design. Choose one of the two:
- Download as XLS. A spreadsheet is downloaded to your computer, where you can copy the Ad Tag.
- Copy code. Copy the Ad Tag directly from Creatopy.
- Before uploading the Ad Tag, adjust the macro code as follows:
- In the "targetID" column, replace {TARGET_ID} with {COUNTRY}.
- Copy the modified code into your Ad Network as a 3rd party tag.
Important*: IP geolocation is inherently imprecise. Locations are often near the center of the population. Any location provided by a GeoIP database should not be used to identify a particular address or household.
Note: Creatopy uses the ISO 3166 country codes. For the current list of countries, see the ISO 3166-1-alpha-2 code on their website. You can also refer to the country list on Wikipedia.
Note¹: Our system will show the ad's default variable in countries you left out or can't be localized.
