The Feed Ad Builder

This article will cover the Feed Ad Builder feature, its usage, requirements, and how to use it in Creatopy.

 

What is it?

You can instantly generate multiple versions of an ad using CSV files, reducing time when creating ad designs. This feature is perfect for e-commerce store campaigns, A/B testing, multilanguage ads, etc.

 

How does it work?

After you create a design, you can import a CSV file to feed the data from your columns and directly generate all the other designs you need. The Feed Ad Builder displays the list of all the elements you want to include in your creative, such as color, text, URL, and so on. You have to link each parameter with its parent column from the imported file to populate the information in your design.

 

First things first

Before diving into the process, you should check out the upload requirements for your CSV file. Additionally, here you will be able to find a list of the compatible platforms that will allow you to directly download your product information in a CSV file, which can end up saving you a considerable amount of time.

 

How to Activate the Feed Ad Builder

  1. Open your Design/Design Set.
  2. From the Toolbar, click on Feed.
  3. Click Select Feed.
  4. Click Create Feed.
    • Select Upload from my computer and Click on Select file.
    • Select Upload from my URL and type in the source of your Feed.
      • Once the source is inputted, the Settings section pops up; click on theDropdownMenuIcon.pngdrop-down icon to:
        • Set the Update Frequency of your Feed.
        • Choose the Separator Type on your CSV.
  5. Once done, click Continue to finish activation of the Feed Ad Builder.

How to Link the Design with your CSV file

Once the CSV is online, you will notice the parameters split into the following sections:

  • General. Used for linking general attributes like Design name, Design target URL, and Background source.
  • On all slides. Design elements are included on all slides¹.
  • Current slide. Design elements are included only on your current selected slide.

Each parameter has the following:

  • Name. The actual design elements on your slides.
  • Dropdown menu. Containing the column headers from the uploaded CSV.
  • State Indicator. Shows an Active feedactiveicon.png/ Inactive feedinactiveicon.png linkage.
  1. Click on the dropdown menu from each parameter to link your .csv Columns. Depending on the parameter, the properties should be:
    • Text².
    • Color.
    • Image Source.
    • Landing URL.
  2. Use the Row Preview to see the Design/Design Set variations.
  3. Each export format will have a Feed Rows section from where you're able to:
    • Select Current row preview.
    • Select the range of rows you'd like to Download.
  4. Click Download.

Note¹: On all slides section will only be visible if an element is shown on all slides. To do this, click on the desired element > From the tooltip, click on LayerIcon.png Layer > Check Show on all slides.

Note²: When linking text elements, you can set Text boundaries to avoid overlapping other elements. To do this, click on the text element > On the tooltip, make sure you're on Text > Under the Text content boundaries section; depending on your needs, you can: Resize box to fit text, Shrink text on overflow, or use Ellipsis.
